A key element of the proposed project is the design and development of an electronic platform based on blockchain technology that will support the effective implementation of the traceability scheme and quality assurance protocol to support ready-to-eat food companies and other partners across the range of the relevant supply chain. ln particular, it will facilitate the process of traceability and quality assurance and nutritional profile of the final products. The online platform will effectively support point-to-point tracking along the entire supply chain using a blockchain approach for increased transparency and trust building. lt will also support the implementation, monitoring and documentation of the Quality Assurance Protocol throughout the product life cycle. The electronic platform will be built in a modular way (sections - tiles) so that each computer tool (section) can operate independently or in combination with other information systems. All data on the Food Meals Trace online platform will be managed through a blockchain approach, in order to provide transparency and trust throughout the supply chain. ln the proposed system, the blockchain can act as a shared data layer to allow multiple parties to monitor the status of a product as it moves across the supply chain and share information about its origin and handling in a safe and transparent manner. Web applications and modules will be developed at the top of the blockchain architecture. A specific Data Protection approach will be adopted to access this data via the lnternet, which will ensure the authentication of users who have access to the data and, in addition, the confidentiality, control of access rights and the integrity of the data they handle in accordance with the licenses granted by the data holder.
